Hey there, I’m Alex Bennett welcome to Be Like A Chef
I still remember the first time I burned garlic so badly it set off my smoke alarm three times in one night. That was me, twenty-something, standing in a tiny apartment kitchen, absolutely determined to figure out why my food never tasted like it did at my favorite restaurant.
Fast forward a few years (and a whole lot of trial, error, and happy accidents), and here we are Be Like A Chef, a place where I share everything I’ve learned about turning everyday ingredients into meals that actually taste like something.
My Story
I didn’t grow up in a fancy culinary school. I grew up in a house where dinner was a big deal where Sunday sauce simmered for hours and nobody left the table hungry. That’s where my love for food really started.
Later on, I spent time working the line in a few local kitchens, learning the stuff they don’t teach you in cookbooks: how to move fast, how to fix a sauce that’s about to break, how to plate something so it actually looks like you know what you’re doing. That hands-on experience the real, sweaty, “we’re slammed on a Friday night” kind of experience is what shaped the way I cook today.
These days, I’m not chasing Michelin stars. I’m chasing something I think matters more to most of us: recipes that work, taste incredible, and don’t require a culinary degree to pull off.
What You’ll Find Here
Be Like A Chef is all about:
- Trending recipes that are actually worth the hype (I test everything before it hits the blog)
- Restaurant-quality dishes you can make in your own kitchen, no fancy equipment required
- Step-by-step guidance that assumes you’re smart, not that you’re a professional chef
- Real talk about what works, what doesn’t, and how to fix it when dinner goes sideways
Whether you’re meal-prepping for the week, trying to impress someone on date night, or just tired of eating the same three dinners on repeat you’re in the right place.
Why “Be Like A Chef”?
Because cooking like a chef isn’t about having a fancy title. It’s about technique, confidence, and knowing a few key tricks that make everything taste better. That’s exactly what I want to hand over to you one recipe at a time.
No pretension. No 47-ingredient shopping lists. Just good food, made simple.
Let’s Cook Something Great
Grab an apron, pour yourself something good, and let’s get into it. I’m really glad you’re here.
